Cocoa is a source of flavanols, and these phenolic compounds exert beneficial effects on health and aging, and reduce the risk of suffering chronic diseases (cardiovascular diseases, metabolic disorders, cancer). [1]

Studies suggest cocoa flavonoids:

  • Exert beneficial vascular effects and reduce the risk of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. [2]
  • May improve the function of a specific part of the brain called the dentate gyrus, which is associated with age-related memory [3]
